Attractions

One of the most recognizable attractions in Fenway is legendary Fenway Park—home of the Boston Red Sox. This impressive stadium was built in 1912 and is one of the oldest Major League Baseball Parks that is still in use. Over the years, Fenway Park has undergone a series of renovations, adding many unique quirks to the park. In addition to hosting baseball games, the park has been used as a setting for concerts and political campaigns. The park is a definite must-see for any baseball fan, due to its number of features including the lone red seat, the Green Monster, and the triangle.

Kenmore Square is another famous stop for both visitors and locals alike. The square intersects some of the most famous streets in the area such as Beacon Street and Commonwealth Avenue. Some of the most popular aspects of the square include the CITGO sign, a particularly large advertisement that has become famous due to the fact that it’s often shown in the background of Red Sox’s games. Kenmore Square is a great stop for a night out on the town, as well as for a stroll during the day.

Fenway is also home to two delightful art museums: the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. The Gardner Museum, which is situated directly across from the Fine Arts Museum, features a stunning display of over 2,500 works of European, Asian and American art. The Museum also holds a number of traveling exhibits from internationally well-known artists. The Museum of Fine Arts is one of the largest museums in all of America, and attracts over one million visitors per year. The museum holds over 450,000 pieces of art, making it one of the most comprehensive collections in the country. Pieces come from all over the world and include collections such as rare Egyptian artifacts, 5,000 pieces of Japanese pottery, an extensive collection of Chinese Calligraphy and art and an impressive collection of 18th and 19th century American art.

Parks and Recreation

A popular picnic spot is Boston’s famed park known as “The Esplanade.” Located on the Charles River, bordered by Back Bay and Beacon Hill, this serene spot features beautiful walkways and bike paths, five miles of riverbank, two playgrounds, two softball fields, one wading pool, and over 1,900 trees! The park is particularly popular in the summer where hundreds of thousands of tourists and residents congregate to get a glimpse of the fireworks show on the 4th of July.
